X-Fuge summer Camp

Our students just got back from a camp called X-Fuge in Birmingham, AL. With X-Fuge, our students get the opportunity to experience a mission trip with a camp in one week. Our project was to repaint a home and playground equipment. The students worked incredibly hard and encouraged each other throughout the week. At night, there was a worship service, group devotions, and normally some fun late night activity. Below are some pictures from the week...

Campout for Haiti

Below is a video, that our students made attempting to raise awareness for Haiti Relief. Their troubles from the earthquake have been multiplied by their current rainy season. With families' home either destroyed or whether they are too afraid to re-enter homex due to aftershocks, many are living in fields in tarped shelters. However, with the rainy season these tarped shelters are unable to sufficiently provide shelter from the rains and tents have become prized possessions. If you would like to help you can donate $10 dollars to Children's Hunger Fund by texting the word TENT to 85944.

Spring Break Mission Trip

On March 21st-27th, Twenty-five students and five leaders travelled on Spring Break through the snow to San Antonio to work with contruction and kids. These students did an incredible job of embracing several different types of service for extended periods of time. The main ministry of our trip revolved around loving on younger aged kids in the Wheatley Courts area of San Antonio through an after school program organized by East Side Fellowship Church. Through tutoring, playing games, snacks, and lots piggie back rides, Christ's love was shared with joy.

In addition to loving these kids, our students were involved with packaging 'bags of blessings' for the Wheatley Courts community, packaging beans to be sent to Haiti, planting flower beds, repainting a food pantry, assisting in renovating three homes, participated in a church service for the homeless, and passing out gospel tracts at the Alamo.

I am so proud of our students and excited to them be sensitive to how God is working through them to help others. Below are some pictures

One Weekend '10

Hey Everyone,

On Valentine's weekend 40 students from Second Baptist Church along with 14 bible study leaders participated in an area wide Disciple-Now called "One Weekend." This is a very special weekend for all the student ministries in Arkadelphia. We call it "'ONE' Weekend" to hopefully carry the idea to our students that while there are 6 different student ministries in town we are still ONE body of believers under Christ and worship him as the ONE true God.

This years theme was "One Love" and our students heard effectively the message that God loves them. With God's crazy, passionate love for us in mind, we were then challenged to honestly answer the question of whether God had captured our hearts in such a way that we might return that love to him in crazy passionate worship. We concluded the weekend realizing that no loving relationship with God is ever complete without a public active demonstration of love for other believers and the world. Christians are indeed called to love.

In addition to staying up late and simply hanging out, our students were involved with service projects. These projects included two hours of raking and bagging leaves. Combined, our students bagged nearly 100 bags. For those keeping tabs, that is a bag per 1 min. and 15 sec. Sound impressive? It is.

Here are only a sample of pictures from the weekend. You can check out the rest at "Second Baptist Student Ministries" on facebook.

God bless!
Ross

Repainting the Youth Building

During the month of January on Sunday nights our students have been repainting parts of the youth building. In doing this, we have been trying to emphasis service in the student ministry as well as revitalize a much needed youth building. Our students have done a fabulous job thus far. I am so proud of the work they have done!! Below are some pictures of us at work.
